This checkbox will create a Buy Rule (stock.rule):
This rule will be added to the Buy Route:
This means that Odoo will monitor the WAREH/Stock location and, when stock is needed there for the Products using the BUY Route, will attempt to create a draft Purchase Order to meet the demand.
