Hello , i am using multilevel boms for manufacturing furniture . Each furniture is made by several pieces with several kits that connect and make my final piece of furniture , so the question is. Why when i make a manufacture order and i don’t have enough materials ,for example wood pieces for the drawer kit and metal pieces for the metal base ,i get notified i don’t have enough components but the production from the needed materials doesn’t start. I mean that , cant the odoo send a notification to have the needed materials produced? Because inside the kit of the drawer the is a bom about how the wooden parts need to be proceeded and prepared .So what happens when i dont have enough materials from my final product? Have i have to always check manually and manually produce the components missing from my furniture bom or there is an automated way so when i create a PO ,if needed ,the production of the materials is going to start ? I hope my description is not confusing enough .

Hi,

Multilevel Bom describes how to set up multilevel BoMs, and describes two methods to make sure sub-products (sub-assemblies) are produced automatically when needed.

Refer: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/18.0/applications/inventory_and_mrp/manufacturing/advanced_configuration/sub_assemblies.html

Replenish an order describes how enabling the MTO route causes automatic creation of manufacturing orders/purchase orders whenever a product is required by an SO or MO.

Refer: https://www.odoo.com/documentation/18.0/applications/inventory_and_mrp/inventory/warehouses_storage/replenishment/mto.html

Hope it helps.

Yes, if replenishment rules are defined and set to ‘Auto’ an MO for unavailable components would be generated.

Inventory > Operations > Replenishment menu to define product specific rules
