How do I get the app icons when I click on the start menu button?

Hi, Im fairly new to Odoo 12. I have had Odoo 8 installed in my local server for a few years now and decided to upgrade to 12. I noticed in many tutorials that they have the  app dashboard where all the icons are arranged nicely after login. My Odoo 12 defaults to the discussions menu. I dont see any icons after logging in. Am I missing something in the settings? How do I get the nice icons you guys have? I am using Odoo 12 community edition by the way. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi Dixy,

The dashboard view you saw is part of the Odoo 12 enterprise edition. Odoo 12 community edition doesn't have that view and will open the discussions form by default. If you need a view like that when you click on the hamburger menu, you can try  this module.  [1]

Hi,
By default Odoo community version dose not have the Apps menu dashboard available like you seen by odoo documentation. It's only available on Odoo enterprise. Don't worry you can install this \https://apps.odoo.com/apps/themes/12.0/backend_theme_v12/ module from odoo apps.
