You can't archive them... the system has to keep the data as everything is integrated to avoid creating mistakes

you meant to say you want backup of your data? yes you can go : https://apps.openerp.com/apps?search=backup
and use backup module you can store you data backup and after you can restore and use it.

No, not backup database. what if you just want to archive purchase orders? just like in archiving emails.
