Placée sous l’autorité de la Chambre des députés, la fonction de médiateur (ou Ombudsman) a pour mission de représenter les citoyens, entreprises et associations dans leurs relations avec l’administration. Il intervient en tant qu’intermédiaire neutre afin de résoudre les litiges opposant ces parties. L’Ombudsman est également chargé du contrôle externe des lieux privatifs de liberté (CELPL).
