Could someone help me to add attributes to the search function?

Here is an example.

Say the product is a Bow Tie. It has 3 variants, Black, Pink & Red.

If you search 'pink bow tie' or 'red bow tie' there are no results returned.

But if you search 'bow tie' only, the product is shown on the results.

The standard version is therefore limited, and not very user friendly.  How can this be changed?
