What I'm looking to do is create a waterfall effect of MOs and then ultimately POs if needed.

I have a sale item: PRODUCT which has a BOM, LAYER1, and is set to MTO.

LAYER1 has is itself an MTO BOM, LAYER2.

LAYER2 is comprised of raw material i.e. purchased components

When adding PRODUCT to my sales order an MO for LAYER1 is created and it stops there. What I'd like to see an MO for LAYER1, an MO for LAYER2 and finally a RFQ for LAYER2's components, if stock is not available.

Also is there a way to queue up MOs at set quantities? LAYER1 @ 50pcs and LAYER2 @100pcs?

Check your configuration.

If you sell MTO PRODUCT you will see an MO for it, as well as an MO for MTO LAYER1 (with a Source of the first MO), as well as an MO for MTO LAYER2 (with a Source of the second MO). Purchased components (if setup with reordering rules, even if they are zero) will be handled once the Scheduler runs.

We don't have a current featureset for defining the batch size of an MO but you can click UPDATE next to the Quantity to Produce.
