Hello everyone,

Noting a very strange situation with a BOM type kit in Odoo 15. In the manufacturing module, I create a new kit for product and I can only sell it or move the “kit” in parts. But I cannot assemble a set and deal with it as one unit.

The most amazing thing is that Kit BOM has operations... So I can create documentations how to assemble some product with deadlines, but I can’t do this operations in Odoo. When I try to make a manufacturing order for this kit, Odoo just don't give me chance to link it with Kit BOM, it simply doesn’t work.

Why did this happen? Is there something I’m not understanding? How can I combine the set into one product?

Hi Well Green,

The function of a kit BOM is exactly as you describe. You can create a product to sell for example, "Set of 3 screwdrivers" this would have a Kit BOM with Screwdriver 1, Screwdriver 2 and Screwdriver 3.

When the item "Set of 3 screwdrivers" is confirmed on an SO, your Output transfer will appear as 3 lines. Screwdriver 1, Screwdriver 2 and Screwdriver 3.

The Kit BOM does not trigger an MO. It seems the Odoo functionality allowing you to add operations is wrong as there will never be an MO for these to appear on.

If you want to make a product via an MO using operations the BOM should be "Manufacture this product". Then if you confirm an SO for "Set of 3 Screwdrivers" (and the product is setup as MTO, Manufacture) then an MO will be created with Screwdriver 1, 2 & 3 as components + your operations.

Once you complete this MO the components will be consumed and you will end up with 1 x "Set of 3 Screwdrivers" in stock available to deliver to your customer.

hope this helps

Graeme
