I have tried youtube. Still when I try to modify any odoo functionality or trying to modify snippet options, I get kind of lost.
It would be a great help if there's a way to learn OWL properly.

Thanks a lot. Can you suggest some material for inheriting/extending/overwriting owl widgets/functions?

Also the web module's JS code -- I sometimes add debugger; at some place that I know will be triggered, and then investigate the stack in browser dev-tools :)
