About 20 years ago, the company expanded into solar panels and renewable energy, with a focus on off-grid systems for customers in remote parts of Quebec, far from the province’s public power grid. Their expertise quickly became indispensable for northern communities, fishing lodges, hunting cabins, and commercial sites seeking reliable energy in the middle of the wilderness.

More recently, Volts Energies took a major step forward by becoming a manufacturer for Elios and Li-Cube, two brands of advanced energy products that set new benchmarks for capacity and efficiency. Today, the company is focused on building strong relationships with dealers and distributors across Canada.

Disconnected Systems, Delayed Workflows

Before Odoo, Volts Energies managed its operations using a mix of platforms that didn’t integrate together. The accounting team worked in one system, the sales team in another, and other departments used different tools altogether. This created internal inefficiencies, duplicated work, and a lack of visibility across the company.

Their main platform at the time, a small local solution, served them well in some areas but fell short in others, especially when it came to inventory tracking. Without live inventory data, confirming product availability required time-consuming manual checks, which often disrupted team workflows and slowed down customer response times.

Odoo: A Catalyst for Smarter, Faster Operations


Volts Energies discovered Odoo while researching alternatives that could better meet their needs. After several calls with Odoo’s team, they were convinced that the platform’s flexibility and modular structure would allow them to tailor the system to their exact requirements, and grow with them over time.

Since implementing Odoo, three years ago, the company has adopted a suite of apps that have transformed their operations:

 Sales: Streamlining the entire sales cycle from lead to close.

 CRM: Tracking and managing leads more effectively before they become sales.

 Inventory: Offering real-time stock visibility, integrated with their websites.

 Accounting: Doubling the speed of daily reconciliations and invoice processing.

 Helpdesk: Managing product support tickets efficiently.

 E-learning: (In development) Creating training resources for dealers.

One of the most impactful changes has been the elimination of double data entry. With all apps communicating seamlessly, information only needs to be entered once, saving countless hours.

The inventory tracking system now provides a live stock update on the company’s websites, allowing both customers and sales representatives to instantly check availability. This feature alone has cut customer inquiry times or eliminated them entirely when clients can see stock online.

Another major win is the dealer portal, where partners can log in, view their specific price lists, and place orders directly without going through a representative. This not only saves time for both sides but also improves the ordering experience for dealers.

Efficiency gains are measurable:

Accounting processes are twice as fast as before, especially in reconciling accounts and entering invoices or receipts.

● Customer service ticket handling time has dropped from around one hour to just 15 minutes in many cases, thanks to the Helpdesk app’s structured ticket system.

Inventory inquiries that once took up to 20 minutes now take mere seconds.

What’s Next: Expanding Horizons with Digital Tools


With great growth ahead, Volts Energies is focused on expanding its Canadian market presence, particularly through B2B sales for its new Elios and Li-Cube brands. This strategic shift means they will be selling exclusively to dealers rather than end customers, strengthening their distributor network and scaling their reach.

Digitally, they’re investing in their dealer-facing online platforms, including the development of their Knowledge app to provide training courses and other resources directly to partners. They’re also upgrading from Odoo version 15 to version 18 this year, opening the door to even more powerful features and integrations.

By migrating to the latest version and continuing to explore new Odoo modules, Volts Energies plans to further optimize operations and uncover fresh opportunities to serve their growing network of distributors.
