I am trying to set up my odoo 16 community system to our charities MS Office emails. I have followed all the various instruction manuals on how to do this. 

I am not a MS Office Azure expert. I have connected the two systems and got the green "outlook token valid" sign.

When I click Test connection, I get an error:

The server refused the sender address (my email address) with error b'5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail. Error: 451 4.7.0 Temporary server error. Please try again later. PRX5 [LO4P265CA0118.GBRP265.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM 2023-11-15T19:17:20.537Z 08DBE4A4CAF8F150]'

Any ideas what this means or what I have (or havent) done?

I had the same problem. You need to allow Verified SMTP in your Azure Email account. 

  1. Open the MicroSoft Admin Center and go to Users > Active users.
  2. Select the user, and in the flyout that appears, click Mail.
  3. In the Email apps section, click Manage email apps.
  4. Verify the Authenticated SMTP setting: unchecked = disabled, checked = enabled.
  5. When you're finished, click Save changes.
