American Express can be tricky to connect in Odoo because of how the bank sync providers are integrated. Odoo Online and Odoo.sh use Plaid (mainly for US/CA banks) and Yodlee (for broader coverage). The challenge is that Amex is often only supported through Yodlee, not Plaid, which is why the connection attempts with the Plaid options fail.

A few things you can try:

1. Check provider coverage
   – In Odoo, go to Accounting > Online Synchronization and check whether “American Express” is listed under Yodlee. Sometimes it appears as a separate option from the regular bank list.
2. Enable Yodlee for your DB
   – If your database is currently using Plaid only, you may need to open an Odoo support ticket to have Yodlee enabled for your subscription. Amex generally won’t connect properly without it.
3. Alternative approach
   – If Yodlee is not available in your plan, you can still import Amex transactions manually via OFX/QFX/CSV import from your Amex online banking portal. This won’t give you real-time sync, but it keeps your books up to date.
4. Regional differences
   – Amex sync availability can also depend on your billing address (US vs. international). Double-check with Odoo support which aggregator supports your region.

In short: Plaid won’t work with Amex; you’ll need Yodlee enabled by Odoo or fallback to manual imports.
