When your business spans manufacturing, retail, distribution, and R&D support across multiple industries, from craft brewing to lithium refining, you can’t afford to operate in silos. That’s the challenge Xtractor Depot faced before switching to Odoo. For founder and CEO Andrew Yoon, Odoo didn’t just replace a handful of disconnected tools: it transformed how the company manages operations, delivers value to clients, and prepares for the future.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Los Angeles, Xtractor Depot designs, manufactures, and assembles equipment for materials processing. Although the company has its roots in the cannabis sector, its custom-engineered solutions are now used far beyond that. Their technology supports high-efficiency extraction in industries such as pharmaceuticals, brewing (hops extraction), dry ice production, and even lithium refining. Clients include names like SpaceX, Lucid Motors, and top-tier beverage companies.

Andrew Yoon’s journey began back in 2012, while studying accounting in college. Intrigued by the growing demand for cannabis extracts and the scientific complexity behind their production, he saw an opportunity in building the specialized equipment needed for this emerging market. Xtractor Depot launched to the public in 2016 and has since evolved alongside the industries it serves.

“We’re working with breweries, lithium refineries, and even pharmaceutical researchers. The same core technology, precision extraction, applies to all of them.”

Too Many Tools, Too Little Integration

Before implementing Odoo, Xtractor Depot relied on a combination of fragmented software: QuickBooks for accounting, Shopify for e-commerce, Salesforce for CRM, and Excel for purchase orders. Each platform addressed a piece of the business puzzle, but none provided the unified view Andrew needed to make strategic decisions or scale operations efficiently.

The team considered other systems, including SAP, but found them either cost-prohibitive or inflexible. What Andrew was looking for was a customizable, scalable ERP that could handle the diverse workflows of a multi-faceted company.

"I had to use five different apps to run the business. With Odoo, everything feeds into each other. It completes the feedback loop and gives you better control, better data, and better organization."

An Operational Upgrade That Changed Everything

Andrew Yoon discovered Odoo in 2015 through simple online research. As an accounting major familiar with ERP systems, he was drawn to Odoo’s open-source flexibility and cost-effectiveness. The company first used the Community version, then upgraded to Odoo Enterprise as the business scaled.

Today, Odoo powers Xtractor Depot’s operations across locations in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Oklahoma. Here’s how it made a difference:
  • Accelerated Procurement: Purchase orders that once took 15 minutes to complete using Excel now take 5 minutes with Odoo. Information is saved, searchable, and reusable, dramatically reducing admin time.
  • Inventory Management: With Odoo’s Inventory module acting as the central database, Andrew’s team has greater visibility and control across warehouses and channels. This includes real-time syncing with platforms like Shopify.
  • Manufacturing & Purchase: Xtractor Depot recently upgraded to Odoo V18 to expand use of the Manufacturing module. As a company that assembles equipment in-house, sourcing parts globally, tracking components and coordinating workflows has become far more efficient.
  • CRM & Sales Integration: The CRM module is now the hub for B2B client interactions. Sales outside of e-commerce are currently being migrated into Odoo for a full rollout starting August 1st, aiming to retire redundant systems and consolidate processes.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: The implementation of Odoo’s Accounting module is underway, enabling better financial oversight and reporting, something Andrew views as critical for long-term success.

“We used to make POs manually; now it’s faster, cleaner, and the data’s all there. Inventory, CRM, Purchase, it’s all integrated. It saves time and money."

Looking Ahead: Scaling Up and Giving Back

The future is global for Xtractor Depot. With international demand growing in markets like Thailand and South America, Andrew is planning geographic expansion. But he’s also envisioning a future where Xtractor Depot helps other businesses optimize the way they operate, by bringing Odoo to them.

The goal? Create a tailored Odoo solution for Xtractor Depot’s own clients, many of whom still operate without ERP systems. By replicating the configuration that worked for his company, Andrew hopes to offer a customizable ERP framework that’s industry-specific and ready to deploy.

"Most of our clients don’t have a system like Odoo. If we can help bring it to them, customized for their needs, it’s a win for everyone."
