We want to sell kits, so we're using mrp bom on product, as kit. The problem occurs when we want to use dropshipping on those kits. Result : the system throw an exception, the product doesn't have any supplier.

It seems that, by choosing the dropshipping route, it doesn't take care about boms : Odoo tries to buy the final kit, not each components.

Is there any way to prevent this? Thanks in advance.

Hello Nays,

Yes, you are right. Odoo always ask for Final product vendor as it assume that we always buy component from same vendor.

And if we have different vendors for each component then delivery time may vary and has to manage different RFQ and picking each time. That's why odoo doesn't support dropshipping for kit product which are having different vendor.

This is old, but I was just struggling with this myself.

1) Create a sellable item that is manufactured with a Kit BoM

2) Set the COMPONENTS of the kit to be drop-shipped from the vendor. Not the kit item itself, just the components.

3) Write a Sales Order for the Kit item, and a PO will be generated for the component items. That PO will have a Drop Ship receipt.

Hi John,

The process which you are following is correct.
It is always sellable item with a Kit BOM to set with Manufacture and Make to Order option under Inventory tab.
Components are required to set as Buy and Dropship routes and a vendor is set for the components then the flow will work perfectly.
