The question:

What will be the rental cost of a product for 8 days if my rental pricing is set up like this: 1day=50$, 3days= 110$, 1week = 200$?

I thought it would be 1 week + 1 day = 200$ + 50$ = $250? (Same as 8 days, also mentioned in the video it will be based on the cheapest option).

Odoo calculates the lowest price to cover the number of days to be rented. And You cannot mix renting days categories. If you are renting by weeks, then you cant add a single-day price to the same list.

Let's calculate by all methods,

If by single day rent category,

50$ * 8 days = 400$

If by three-day rent category,

110$ for 3 days * 3 time Which is for 9 days = 330$

If we go by weekly rent category

200$ * 2 weeks ( 8 days are considered 2 weeks )= 400$

By the rule of odoo, the lowest price is 330$.

You may be correct.

But the confusion was caused by the way she explained that odoo will consider the cheapest price

Actually the computation method does not allow to mix lines, this means price will be computed with 3x   3days= 110$ = 330$ (This is the cheapest to cover the time period using one line).

I believe the calculation you have shown is for 9 days. The question is for 8 days.

Indeed but it's still the cheapest way to cover the 8 day rental period using one line, other options would be 8x 1day (50$) = 400 or 2x 1week (200$) = 400$

Yeah I agree with you, the key bit to highlight is "using one line" as you mentioned. Not sure if this will be well received by rental companies.

I'll read your posts more often, I swear. I recently learned of a game called https://onlyupgame.online , and I'd love for you to play it with me whenever you have some free time.

Odoo has given two rules.

1. pick only one price

2. pick the most cheapest price

where these two conditions will be fulfilled that price will be final.

so we will apply the price in 3 situations and pick the cheapest option.

1.  1 day =50$,   8 days = 50$*8=400$

2. 3 days=110$, 9 days= 110*3= 330$ (here we can't break into 8 days so we have to pick multiple only)

3. 1 week= 200$ 2weeks= 200*2=400$ (again we can't separate days from weeks and have to pick multiple in which that time period falls.

so the cheapest option is 2.
