Free Food Alert is a growing initiative built on Odoo V16 Community Edition designed to help universities remediate food waste & hunger on campus by notifying students, faculty, staff, and other campus community members about free food available at the end of catered events. Through mass email alerts and mobile smartphone push notifications, the platform reduces food waste and enhances campus sustainability.

With over 10,000 subscribers and partnerships across 12+ universities, Free Food Alert has supported more than 650 giveaways—rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste—with zero food safety incidents to date. The platform offers universities powerful tools including unlimited alerts, multi-campus support, food waste analytics & reporting, targeted email marketing, and feedback surveys.

New universities can begin with a 1-semester free trial to pilot the program with zero obligation. This session will feature a live demo of the tool and explore how university administrators can join the mission to reduce food waste while improving student life on campus.
