Danny is a pragmatic and solution-oriented business analyst at Acsone, a long-standing Odoo Gold Partner with 14 years of experience.

Acsone has developed an in-depth knowledge of building future-proof solutions for organizations of all sizes. Passionate about open-source, the company is also an active contributor and sponsor of the Odoo Community Association (OCA).

Since 2018, I have had the privilege of contributing to Medipost’s digital transformation by leading the Odoo ERP and developing the e-commerce activity, supporting the growth of a fast-expanding SME.

In this session, we will share our journey of transforming a heavily customized Odoo solution into a streamlined, efficient system primarily built on Odoo Enterprise’s standard features, complemented by carefully selected OCA community addons.

Medipost, with its complex and advanced business needs, initially relied on extensive customizations in Odoo 12 to align with its processes. While relevant at the time, this approach naturally evolved into a desire to return to the comfort and robustness of the standard, a healthy and serene step forward in our ERP journey.

Following the Odoo Experience 2024, Acsone and the customer decided to organize a scoping analysis, totally based on Odoo v18, just as if it was a brand new project.

By adopting a "standard-first" approach, and challenging the customer on its business processes and third party solutions, we rearchitected the whole solution in order to maximize the usage of Odoo standard. This lead to a smaller footprint for the customization, improving stability, usability, and scalability while covering a broader range of business needs.
The solution now encompasses website, sales, CRM, POS, logistics and accounting.

Key takeaways from this session include:
* The risks of over-customization and how to assess when a reimplementation is necessary.
* Our methodology for migrating from a fragmented system to a cohesive, standard-based solution.
* The added-value of OCA addons on an Odoo Enterprise Edition, extending functionality without reinventing the wheel.
* Measurable improvements in performance, user adoption, and long-term maintainability.

Whether you’re an Odoo partner, developer, or an IT manager, this talk will provide actionable insights on how to leverage Odoo’s native capabilities effectively—reducing technical debt while delivering a more robust and future-proof solution.
