Does below mentioned DB filter work also for v8? If someone has got if working please let me know. Currently we get our instance (Ubuntu 14) directed to the DB manager page instead of the web home page when setting it up.

The fix in that thread works but, as they comment, it's not a good idea to tinker with init.d scripts directly.
In odoo v8:
dbfilter=%d
works fine, while:
dbfilter=^%d$
