While loading a Point of Sale (POS) session with ~ 17,000 products, the time to load the POS client is (subjectively) long (~ 1 minute 30 seconds), and this is without product images. 1m:30s will seem like a long time for the end users who are now use to intant app loading on computers, web application, smartphone apps, etc. Does anyone have a solution to this issue? Is anyone else having similar issues?

This is related to the forum post from July 2013 and v7 ( https://www.odoo.com/forum/help-1/question/how-to-make-pos-scalable-26050), but it doesn't look like it was fixed in v8.
