There's a couple of things I find myself unable to understand about how product suppliers work (product.supplierinfo) in v7.

When you create a new product, you can add suppliers to it (seller_ids) which relates to the product.supplierinfo model. The thing is that in order to be able to add a supplier, you have to select a partner AND a product. If I'm still creating the product, it won't be on the product selector so, if I'm not missing something, you can't add suppliers to a product while creating it.

When you edit a product, you can add suppliers to it, and you still have to select a partner AND a product. If I'm editing a product, shouldn't at least the product be selected by default in the product selector? Wouldn't it be "safer" if you could only set suppliers for the product you are editting and the product selector wasn't there?

The same happens if you use product_variant_multi and create/edit product templates, but at least if you generate all the variants, you will have the "correct" products to add.

A couple of final questions:

  • Is this the intended behaviour to add suppliers to products?
  • Is / are there any addon/s that make this a bit more friendly and understandable?

Thank you.

You generally have suppliers created independently of the products. A supplier is just a partner with the "supplier" box checked. Then when creating the product you link it to the existing supplier.

Using a v7 instance on Runbot, I don't reproduce your second issue : go to Sales -> Products, click Create, set a value for Name, go to procurement, click on suppliers -> add an item, and I can select Camptocamp as supplier for that product.
