How can I add the customer reference (sale_order.client_order_ref) field to the ecommerce checkout form?

When using the webshop I want to give the customer the possibility to fill in his own reference. This reference should be put in the Reference/Description field of the corresponding quotation.

Is this possible in version 8.0 (preferably without custom module in saas)?
