I was trying to rent out a product that is a Kit (composed of multiple components) in Odoo, but I kept encountering the error: “You should update the components quantity instead of directly updating the quantity of the kit product.” While selling the Kit worked perfectly, the error appeared only when processing the rental order.

The issue was resolved by enabling the “Rental Transfers” option in the Rental settings. This setting allows stock deliveries and receipts for rental orders, ensuring the Kit components are handled correctly during the rental process.

Enable rental transfers and have the kit product as rental product
