I have change the company currency to ZAR but the $ sign shows in the quotes. The 'R' symbol is also on the right and I need to move it to the left of the values.

I do not have a contacts menu under the settings for sales, am I missing a setting else where or an app we need to install?
Go to "Sales/Configuration/Contacts/Localization/Countries", look up your country, open the currency form view:
